iFi and Steve Levine collaborate on a Master-Tuned iDSD GR2

The special-edition portable DAC and headphone amplifier adds component changes and two producer-developed digital filters.

iFi has announced the iDSD GR2 MT, a Master-Tuned edition of its portable DAC and Class A headphone amplifier, developed in collaboration with British record producer Steve Levine.

The company says the new edition incorporates component-level changes and two digital filter options created with Levine. Announced hardware includes a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and a desktop mode that bypasses the internal battery.

The most distinctive aspect of the announcement is the producer collaboration. How those filter choices sound in practice would require controlled listening; HiFi Herald has not conducted a hands-on evaluation.
